It's time for the March version of Guess the Snowfall, the final game of the season.
It's been one of the least-snowy and warmest winters on record in the Twin Cities, but March has a long history of big, sloppy snowfalls. This could be big!
To enter, guess how much snow will fall in the month of March in the Twin Cities -- in inches and tenths. E-mail your prediction, along with your actual name, the city you live in, and a phone number where you can be reached, to email@example.com. The winner will be the person whose guess is closest to, but doesn't exceed, the March snowfall total measured at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport by the National Weather Service. Ties will be broken in favor of the earliest entry.
Entries are due by 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 29.
The winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to the coffee or bagel shop of his or her choice.
Need help guessing? The record March Twin Cities snowfall is 40 inches, set in 1951. Normal is 10.2, but from 1885 through 2011, not a single March ended with that amount.
We'll announce February's winner Thursday. That one's going down to the wire.
