It's an amenity that's almost essential these days for anyone wanting to sell their house: Stainless steel appliances. Whirlpool has another idea. The company is touting white as the new stainless with its brand new White Ice appliance collection. In its marketing materials the company doesn't disparage its current stainless steel offerings, but says that consumers say they want less maintenance. Did their focus groups just figure out that it takes some work to wipe doggie drool and greasy finger prints from a stainless fridge? Readers: do me a favor. Send me a link to the first real estate ad that says: "White Ice appliances and granite counters...." That's going to take some getting used to, right?
