One day after Shaka Smart rumors
died abruptly, another candidate surfaced.
Multiple outlets reporting that Minnesota reached out to Iowa State’s Fred Hoiberg, 40, including the
Ames Tribune’s Travis Hines.
Would Hoiberg actually go to the Gophers, away from Ames, his hometown, and a place that calls him “The Mayor?” That’s a different story.
Those close to Hoiberg say it’s unlikely considering he and his family’s ties.
A call by the Star Tribune to Hoiberg’s cell phone went unanswered.
UPDATE: Iowa State's AD just tweeted that
Hoiberg agreed to a 10-year, $20 million extension. So cross another coach off the list.
