These first days of the solar sojourn in Aquarius remind us to keep working for the common good. Selfishness never pays. It may seem to at first, but nothing is ever gained alone — or free. Even free things cost. This existence is one of constant trading. Not everything traded is readily apparent, but eventually the balance sheets will be laid bare.
ARIES (March 21-April 19). You're exceptionally creative today, but chances are you're being asked to take part in rather conventional environments. Take the format and give it a creative twist.
TAURUS (April 20-May 20). A kind act can take many forms, but no matter how it shows up, it will not be mistaken. People know what compassion feels like. Today's kind intention will have an unmistakable warmth to it.
GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Good is coming from the situation — though it's too early to detect, and if you try, you'll only get in the way of the process. Instead, take it one thing at a time, striving for the kindest and most patient response to each moment.
CANCER (June 22-July 22). They think they know you, but do they really? You change like your guiding luminary, the moon — showing a different kind of radiance by the hour. To love you is to be in a constant state of learning.
LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). Although your reasoning powers are stronger than ever, there are some situations you won't be able to reason your way into or out of. Use your intuition. You can trust your extrasensory perceptions.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22). Listen to the small concerns. Handle the nuances. Maybe this isn't pettiness so much as an opportunity to tend to something that really oughtn't fall through the cracks.
LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23). You said it before, but you'll have to say it again — this time in a different way, though. Keep trying new approaches until you find the one they can best hear and understand.
SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 21). Past events have made you hesitant to go forward, but don't let that stop you altogether. Take it as a sign that there's something more to find out about the situation.
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21). You'll hear the echo of a call initiated weeks ago. You may not be sure whether you made the right choice back there, but don't worry too much about it, because what matters is what you do next.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19). Moving your body will be important and will lead to greater movement and flexibility of emotion and thought.
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18). Should you elevate the physical above the mental, the aesthetic over the practical, the spiritual above the sensual? No, no and no! It's all working beautifully together as you honor your whole self.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20). There's a beautiful rhythm and variation in your daily life — with all the little sections of life in nice slices, shuffled and fanned out so that you can play them to their best effect.
TODAY’S BIRTHDAY (Jan. 22). Love is your constant companion. A commitment to a long-term project will finally pay off in 12 months, so do not let up, no matter what else comes into your world. A vote of confidence in March may come in the form of an award or a bonus. Physical vitality increases with a new approach to health and fitness. Scorpio and Sagittarius adore you. Your lucky numbers are: 4, 44, 48, 18 and 20.
COSMICALLY CURIOUS ABOUT... SAYING "NO." Last week, a sensitive Pisces asked for tips on saying no without hurting anyone's feelings. You can search the archives for the first two tips.
TIP NO. 3: Know your rights.
Bottom line, you have a right to fill your time with whatever you want, and other people don't have the right to know what that is. There are those who will act as if they have a claim to your hours and your privacy. Well, they are the ones being presumptuous, not you. You don't have to make a big deal about this, but just knowing in your heart that it's your right to decline without reason will empower your position.
TIP NO. 4: No to the proposal, yes to the person.
You can opt out of an idea and opt in to the person proposing it. Make clear, with a lot of affinity and warmth, that your decision to answer in the negative is only because the idea isn't a good fit for you and that the person presenting it is right up your alley. It helps when you genuinely like people. Make a habit of finding lots of reasons to like people and this vibe will come naturally to you. People will feel your acceptance and decide not to take offense when you can't do everything they want you to.
CELEBRITY PROFILES: The lovely Diane Lane set the stage for a future of wealthy child stars after she appeared on the cover of Time magazine at the age of 13 and was declared a "new young acting sensation." By 18, this Aquarius actress with Mercury and Venus in powerful and business-minded Capricorn was a multimillionaire who continued working steadily through each new decade.
