Buchta has taken breaks from those beats to edit the Star Tribune's Real Estate sections and Travel, and to ghost write a book about getaway homes. He also has an intense interest in architecture, agriculture and the environment. He lives part-time on a tree farm and has a particular expertise in building science and food.

Burcum has been an editorial writer since March 2008, joining the Editorial Board after working in the newsroom as an editor and reporter. She is a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist for editorial writing. "Not This Mine. Not This Location," which focused on copper mining's risk to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, was recognized in 2020. Her "Separate and Unequal" series on dilapidated Bureau of Indian Education schools was a finalist in 2015, and she also testified before Congress that same year about these schools' poor condition. Burcum graduated magna cum laude from the University of Washington in 1991 and started her career as a reporter for the Rochester Post-Bulletin. She previously worked for Mayo Clinic and Ican Inc.

Campbell's current job reflects a longstanding passion for the arts, having grown up on a steady diet of Guthrie Theater shows, and exhibitions and concerts at Walker Art Center and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. In his free time, he loves to kayak on Lake Superior and listen to jazz, rock and soul.

Campbell has been a digital and print journalist for 25 years. She spent 20 years at the St. Paul Pioneer Press as a features and projects editor, ultimately moving to the Metro team, where she led the paper's coverage of courts, crime, communities and politics. Outside of newspapers, she was the editorial director for PBS/Next Avenue, a national digital project. She started her career as a magazine writer, and holds an M.F.A. in nonfiction writing. For 15 years, she lived on 13 acres in Scandia, Minnesota, where she raised chickens -- and three children. She recently returned to city living.

Eder covered education for The Oregonian for three years with a particular focus on marginalized students and systemic inequities. Before that, he wrote about music and pop culture on the trending desk, a time during which he was also the newspaper's lead protest reporter. Prior to his six years at The Oregonian, he spent six months reporting on county government in southern Oregon for The Daily Courier in Grants Pass. He attended the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication. He was born in Mexico and his family immigrated to the United States when he was 2.
