Left-handed relief pitcher Buddy Boshers, who posted a 4.56 ERA over 75 games with the Twins the past two seasons, has been claimed off waivers by Houston, the Astros announced Monday.
Boshers, who signed as a free agent before spring training in 2016, was waived by Minnesota last week in order to clear a roster spot for righthander Addison Reed, who signed a two-year, $16.75 million contract with the Twins.
Boshers, a 29-year-old Alabama native, started each of the past two seasons with Class AAA Rochester, but in both years wound up spending most of the season in the majors as a situational left-handed specialist.
