Stocks closed higher Tuesday as traders welcome positive earnings news from Coca-Cola and other companies. Signs that Greece might be willing to broker a deal with its creditors also gave the market a boost.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 139.55 points, or 0.8 percent, to 17,868.76
The Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 21.85 points, or 1.1 percent, to 2,068.59.
The Nasdaq composite climbed 61.63 points, or 1.3 percent, to 4,787.64.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 44.47 points, or 0.3 percent.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index gained 13.12 points, or 0.6 percent.
The Nasdaq composite climbed 43.25 points, or 0.9 percent.
For the year:
The Dow is up 45.69 points, or 0.3 percent.
The S&P 500 index is up 9.69 points, or 0.5 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 51.59 points, or 1.1 percent.
