Tackling Goliath
"Concussion" (PG-13, Sony) is a fact-based medical procedural that whistle-blows reprehensible front-office deceptions by the National Football League. Dr. Bennet Omalu (Will Smith), a polite, soft-spoken Nigerian immigrant performing autopsies in a Pittsburgh morgue, becomes the story's David, unaware that he is about to tackle a very wrathful Goliath. Unfortunately, writer/director Peter Landesman focuses on Omalu's personal life more than a thriller requires.
