'Grinch,' the sequel

From romantic comedy to black farce: The set of "Four Christmases" has become ground zero for sparring between stars Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn. The notoriously laid-back Vaughn's ad-lib, multiple-take style has gotten under the skin of Witherspoon who, incidentally, calls her production company Type A Films. "She's a one-take perfectionist and Vince likes to try it a few different ways," said a source on the set. "Sometimes he'll be standing behind her and has this look on his face like he just wants to kill her." Merry, merry.

It's 'No Country' for these women

The Alliance of Women Film Journalists has handed out its year-end awards, with a few categories you won't see elsewhere: "Movie You Wanted to Love But Just Couldn't" went to "Margot at the Wedding," and the "Unforgettable Moment" was Viggo Mortensen's nude smackdown in "Eastern Promises." The group got serious, too, naming "No Country For Old Men" as best picture.

The final reel

Forbes magazine has named Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe the industry's most overpaid stars. ... After resolving a bitter legal dispute with New Line Cinema over unpaid royalties, Peter Jackson is on board to produce two movies based on "The Hobbit." ... Brad Pitt is in talks to join Terrence Malick's "Tree of Life" opposite Sean Penn, replacing Heath Ledger. Plot details are sketchy, but it is rumored to be about the Earth's evolution.
