With two weeks to national signing day, the Gophers landed a commitment Wednesday from Hunter Register, a wide receiver from Comeaux High School in Lafayette, La. The 6-5, 195-pound Register is a consensus three-star recruit who also had reported offers from Indiana, Louisiana Lafayette, Memphis and Tulane.
JOE CHRISTENSEN
Rau candidate for national honor
Gophers captain Kyle Rau was named one of 20 candidates for the 2014 Senior CLASS Award.
Those selected have shown notable achievements in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition. CLASS stands for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School.
Two other players on Division I teams in Minnesota also made the list: forward Adam Krause of Minnesota Duluth and defenseman Andrew Prochno of St. Cloud State. North Dakota is the only school with two candidates: forward Mark MacMillan and defenseman Nick Mattson, who is from Chanhassen.
