President Barack Obama may attract the Democrats during his Saturday rally but Republican hope to gin up some excitement of their own.
Obama will rally for Mark Dayton
Obama will be in town to fete DFL gubernatorial candidate Mark Dayton at the University of Minnesota at 1 p.m. At that time Saturday, Republican Tom Emmer will be rallying his own faithful at Godfather's Pizza in Burnsville. Unless that's the world's biggest pizza joint, Obama and Dayton may have numbers on their side at that moment.
GOP plans some rallies of its own
Emmer will also appear at three other rallies: in Woodbury (with U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann at 11:30 am), in Chanhassen (with state Sen. Julianne Ortman at 2:30 p.m.) and in Minnetonka (with U.S. Rep. Erik Paulsen at 4:30 p.m.)
Rep. Tara Mack, R-Apple Valley, wrote a letter to Gov. Mark Dayton Tuesday calling on him to halt an election that began Monday in which independent childcare providers are deciding whether to form a union.
Rep. John Kline, Republican serving his final year in Congress after 14 years, criticized the Obama Administration's handling of foreign military crises, elaborated on his recent presidential endorsement of Sen. Marco Rubio and visibly worried over the state of the Minnesota Republican Party and its chances of retaining his seat in the Republican fold.
