Catching walleyes while using a sliding-sinker rig (aka Lindy Rig) often depends on the length of the “snell’’ — the line that extends from the swivel to the hook. Longer snells allow minnows or other live bait to ride up higher off the bottom than do shorter snells. Pre-tied snells purchased in tackle shops come in varying lengths, some 4 feet long, some longer. Have a variety of snell lengths on hand when trolling or drifting live bait to increase your chances of catching dinner.
