Bloomington standoff

A police standoff in a Bloomington neighborhood that started well before dawn Tuesday, and closed two busy streets, ended peacefully around 2 p.m. as authorities eventually flushed out the suspect from an apartment building. About 4:15 a.m., a man with a laser light pointed it at a passerby and then at a moving vehicle from inside an abandoned home in the 8900 block of Blaisdell Avenue S., police said. Police were called, and the laser was shown on an officer, said Deputy Chief Rick Hart. "We have to assume the worst," Hart said, "that this guy has some sort of weapons system." - Paul Walsh/Star Tribune
