Witnesses in a 34-year-old defendant's hearing testified Tuesday about the frantic and gory circumstances in the aftermath of three sisters who were killed in their western Wisconsin home. Aaron Schaffhausen, of Minot, N.D., appeared at a preliminary hearing in St. Croix County Circuit Court on three counts of first-degree murder in the July 10 deaths of daughters, Amara, 11; Sophie, 8, and Cecilia, 5, at the River Falls home where they lived with their mother. Aaron and Jessica Schaffhausen were divorced months earlier. The hearing concluded with Judge Scott Needham saying that prosecutors presented enough evidence to bring Aaron Schaffhausen to trial.
