TWINS RADIO VOICE MAKES AWARD LIST
John Gordon, the radio voice of the Twins for 2 1/2 decades, is among 10 finalists for the Ford C. Frick Award presented by the Baseball Hall of Fame.
The honor is presented for excellence in baseball broadcasting. The finalists were announced Tuesday, and the award will be presented at the winter meetings on Dec. 4.
Gordon, known for his "Touch 'em all" call after home runs by the Twins, joined the team's radio broadcasts in 1987 and retired after the 2011 season.
Longtime St. Louis Cardinals broadcaster Mike Shannon, Canadian announcer Jacques Doucet and radio pioneer Graham McNamee also were among the 10 finalists.
The other finalists this year are Tom Cheek, Ken Coleman, Bill King, Eric Nadel, Eduardo Ortega and Dewayne Staats.
Cheek, King and Doucet were the top three in online voting by fans. The other seven were picked by a Hall of Fame research committee.
