Several residents of a Plymouth apartment building are without a place to live after fire damaged several units early Wednesday.

At least one unit at the Parkers Lake Apartments collapsed onto a parking garage as crews from Plymouth and 12 neighboring communities fought the blaze that was reported at 1:04 a.m., said Plymouth Fire Chief Rodger Coppa.

No one was injured.

The four alarm fire is believed to have started on a second story deck and quickly spread into the attic. Fire alarms inside the building on the 15000 block of 18th Avenue N. did sound and police were able to get all the residents out safely, Coppa said.

An adjoining unit also sustained some damage, Coppa said.

A number of residents spent the night in a nearby community center. The Red Cross provided assistance for six residents.

The state fire marshal is investigating.
