Barbara Halverson is retiring after 44 years with Steven Scott Management, Inc., most recently as chief executive and president of the St. Louis Park-based rental property management company.
She will be succeeded by Mark Jensen, effective June 1, but will consult for at least two years. Like Halverson, Jensen has a deep history with the company — he's worked for Steven Scott for 28 years, most recently as chief operating officer and chief financial officer.
Jeffrey Scherer, one of the founding principals of the Minneapolis-based architecture firm Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle (MSR Design), is leaving the firm to go back to school full-time in January at the Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, to pursue a degree in traditional drawing and painting. He will remain with the company as an emeritus founder and will advise when necessary.
Scherer founded the company with Tom Meyer and Garth Rockcastle in 1981.
HomeServices of America, a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate, promoted Mary Lee Blaylock from senior vice president and general manager of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties (BHHS California Properties) to president and chief executive of the company. In this new role she will set the strategy and direct operations for BHHS California Properties, and will oversee all aspects of BHHS California Properties' affiliated businesses, including HomeServices Lending, Pickford Escrow, The Escrow Firm, California Title and Home Services Insurance Agency. Blaylock started her real estate career in 1992 as a sales agent with Edina Realty Inc. in Minneapolis.
