TV critics' picks: The boys are back in town

Last update: July 9, 2009 - 5:42 PM

The boys are back in town

Everything's coming up roses for the boys as "Entourage" (9:30 p.m. Sunday, HBO) returns for its sixth season. Vince has the starring role in a Martin Scorsese film, Eric has reconnected with true-love Sloan, Turtle hasn't botched his relationship with Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Drama is ... well ... there's always next week.

Splish, splash

Even TV lovers need a night out at the movies. The TV Guide Network gives in to our inner urges by dedicating Friday nights to feature films, starting with 2004's "Beyond the Sea" (7 p.m. today), in which Kevin Spacey does a decent impression of Bobby Darin. Too bad the overall flick doesn't do a better imitation of a captivating biopic.

Dirty laundry

The new reality series "The Marriage Ref," with Jerry Seinfeld on board as an executive producer, doesn't debut for a couple of months, but it's not too early to consider being part of the show. If you're a couple between 22 and 39 years old and have a beef you want to share with the world, you may be eligible for this weekend's auditions in the Twin Cities. Over my dead body

Just in case "Ugly Betty" didn't teach you that true beauty comes from within, there's now "Drop Dead Diva" (8 p.m. Sunday, Lifetime), a heavy-handed series about a self-centered model who goes the "Heaven Can Wait" route and winds up in the body of an overweight attorney (Brooke Elliott, pictured). Before the third commercial break, our Lazarus has discovered the joys of helping others and eating chocolate.

TV critic's picks: We are family - Rosie O'Donnell has managed to corral some of the nation's most adorable children for "A Family Is a Family Is a Family: A Rosie O'Donnell Celebration" (6 p.m. Sunday, HBO), which allows the young stars to speak openly about what it's like to grow up in unconventional families. Equally cute are the musical numbers by Ziggy Marley, Frank Sinatra and a 4-year-old girl whose lyrics are catchier than anything written by Jewel. More
