Television: Naughty Jerry Seinfeld seeks some TV land therapy

Last update: January 10, 2009 - 11:42 PM

Jerry Seinfeld is working blue. The comedian will show off his naughty side when he makes a guest appearance on the season finale of Starz's heavily improvised series, "Head Case," which returns in March. The series stars Alexandra Wentworth as a therapist to the stars. In addition to Seinfeld, upcoming clients will include Hugh Hefner, Isaac Mizrahi and Tiffani Thiessen.

The series may have encouraged Seinfeld to dip into R-rated territory, but it does have its limits. A bit in which guest Macy Gray reveals a desire to "bed" Barack Obama was cut in the editing room. "For me, I draw the line about what's respectful and what's not," said Wentworth, who helped create the series. Could the decision have anything to do with the fact that she's married to ABC's George Stephanopoulos?

"I didn't want to be collecting alimony checks," she cracked.

Saturday's lineup at TCA also included Minnesota's Stan E. Hubbard, president of Reelz, the film-devoted cable network. Reelz will soon be moving its headquarters from the Twin Cities to New Mexico. Also on hand: Actress Jane Lynch, who is contributing to Starz's new comedy series, "Party Down," about the catering business; "Girls Next Door" member Bridget Marquardt, who will take Travel Channel viewers on a world tour in "Bridget's Sexiest Beaches"; and the cast of BET's new reality series, "Harlem Heights."
