The unsinkable Molly

CBS continues to waste the immense talent of Melissa McCarthy by renewing the intolerable "Mike & Molly," which returns with new episodes next week in the spot previously held by the suddenly canceled "The Millers." To remind you just how weak this sitcom is, the network is airing four episodes from last season. Instead of putting yourself through this ordeal, use the time to start a petition to make McCarthy the permanent host of "Saturday Night Live." 7 p.m., WCCO, Ch. 4

Country comforts

For the fifth year, Jennifer Nettles takes a break from her band Sugarland to emcee a "CMA Country Christmas" with guest appearances by Hunter Hayes, LeAnn Rimes, Carrie Underwood, Sara Evans and Idina Menzel, who is about as country as Ozzy Osbourne. Perhaps she'll make amends by renaming her "Frozen" hit "Let It Go, Cowboy." 7 p.m., KSTP, Ch. 5

A message from our sponsors

Heather McDonald and Matt Weinhold, two comics I've never heard of, introduce a dozen ads I've probably never seen in the "Greatest Holiday Commercials Countdown." Our only hope is that the show is suddenly taken over by the Budweiser Clydesdales. 8 p.m., WUCW, Ch. 23Neal Justin
