TCM’s James Garner marathon includes “The Americanization of Emily,” a dramedy set in 1944. Julie Andrews, Melvyn Douglas and James Coburn co-star.

The Garner files

James Garner, who passed away last week, was primarily known for his laconic TV roles, but he made more than 50 movies, many of which are featured during an all-day marathon. The highlight of the tribute: “The Americanization of Emily,” the 1964 film that first paired the actor with Julie Andrews. Paddy Chayefsky’s screenplay serves both performers well. 9 p.m. TCM

Into the wild

Zac Efron takes another step away from his “High School Musical” image by being the first celebrity to appear on “Running Wild With Bear Grylls,” a new series in which the explorer tests guests’ strength and stamina in the wilderness. In other words: No Starbucks. Instant coffee only. 7 p.m. KARE, Ch. 11

We are young

“The Young Hollywood Awards” likes to bill itself as the Oscars for rising stars, but I don’t think the Academy Awards has categories like “Best Threesome,” “Best Bromance” and “Most Viral Superstar.” Kelly Osbourne serves as host/babysitter. 7 p.m. WUCW, Ch. 23
