The perfect storm

“Sharknado 2: The Second One” isn’t going to win an ocean full of Emmys, but as junk food goes, it’s downright delicious. Ian Ziering and Tara Reid are back, this time to save New York City from swirling sharks, but don’t bother with logic or a plot. The real treat here is Thunder Levin’s screenplay, which is jam-packed with pop-culture winks (the movie opens with a nod to a favorite “Twilight Zone” episode) and campy cameos (Judd Hirsch as a veteran taxi driver). Even Matt Lauer lets down his guard and gets in on the fun. Join the good, stupid fun. The water’s just fine. 8 p.m. Wednesday, Syfy

Secret weapon

If WGN America is serious about getting into the original content business, it’s off to a great start, first with “Salem” and now with “Manhattan,” a drama about the scientists who created the atomic bomb and their families who had to live under a shroud of mystery. Creator Sam Shaw somehow manages to turn geeks jotting down formulas on a blackboard into riveting television. 8 p.m. Sunday, WGN America

We are young

“The Young Hollywood Awards” likes to bill itself as the Oscars for rising stars, but I don’t think the Academy Awards has categories like “Best Threesome,” “Best Bromance” and “Most Viral Superstar.” Kelly Osbourne serves as host/baby sitter. 7 p.m. WUCW, Ch. 23

Walk this way

“Hot in Cleveland,” a sitcom that never met a gimmick it didn’t like, goes the animation route with an episode that imagines life in Cleveland if LeBron James had never left. His staying put apparently would have led to a zombie apocalypse and Steven Tyler transforming into a genie. Steven, please keep your magic mitts off Betty White. 9 p.m. Wednesday, TV Land
