Undateable

Ever since Archie Bunker held court from his recliner on "All in the Family," TV has dared us to fall in love with despicable characters. The latest attempt is "You're the Worst," a sitcom about Californians Jimmy (Chris Geere) and Gretchen (Aya Cash), who should be banned from Tinder. They hook up after he sabotages his ex-girlfriend's wedding and, for reasons that don't make much sense, can't keep their grubby hands off each other. I love a grouch as much as the next guy, but Geere's character is so caustic and unamusing that you pray every woman he comes across greets him with a slap in the face. Cash manages to tap into a smidge of humanity, but it's not enough to root for her. This isn't the worst, but it's nothing to celebrate, either. 9:30 p.m. Thursday, FX

Strange bedfellows

"Masters of Sex," one of the more pleasant surprises from last season, returns with William Masters (Michael Sheen) unshackled from the security of the hospital while tying himself closer to assistant Virginia Johnson (Lizzy Caplan). I'm eager to see how these characters move forward in their relationship, but I'm even more excited to see how the writers use guest star Sarah Silverman, who, in her last series, had a one-night stand with God. Love to see what Masters would make of that relationship. 9 p.m. Sunday, Showtime

Designing women

I would never encourage you to engage in any "Real Housewives" antics — unless it involves some of Hollywood's funniest women sending them up. "The Hotwives of Orlando" features Casey Wilson, Angela Kinsey and Kristen Schaal, talented underused character actors who get a chance to hog the spotlight. Let the catfighting commence! Available on Hulu and Hulu Plus on Monday

Under the knife

Gregory House has hung up his stethoscope, so there appears to be room in the office for a new cranky doctor. Meet William Rush (Tom Ellis), the title character in "Rush," who charges clients outrageous amounts of money for services that don't come with a soothing bedside manner. He's good at his job — as long as he hasn't snorted a large quantity of cocaine before your examination. 8 p.m. Thursday, USA
