Happy meal

Only seven chefs remain in competition on “Hell’s Kitchen,” yet another series that gives Gordon Ramsay’s temper a proper workout. On the plus side, the cooks get a chance to tell dinner guest Minnie Driver how much they enjoyed her canceled series “The Riches.” 7 p.m. KMSP, Ch. 9

How the West is won

So “A Million Ways to Die in the West” wasn’t exactly a blockbuster. At least we still have 1974’s “Blazing Saddles” with a terrific, irreverent script by Mel Brooks and Richard Pryor. Hard to believe this classic is now 40 years old. 7 p.m. AMC

The city that never sleeps

Somewhere between “An American Family” and “The Osbournes,” reality TV took an ugly turn, jamming “reality” into the trunk of the car and granting a driver’s seat to the most outlandish characters producers could dig up. Filmmaker Terence Wrong bucks the trend with “NY Med,” an eight-part series that follows doctors and nurses serving on the front lines. Wean yourself off of “The Bachelorette” and check into this engaging series — doctor’s orders. 9 p.m. KSTP, Ch. 5
