The men who won the war

It was 70 years ago that Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy and changed the direction of World War II. “Brian Williams: D-Day Special” has the NBC anchor tracking down veterans who share their memories of that harrowing, critically important event. 7 p.m. Friday, KARE, Ch. 11

That’s entertainment!

“The 68th Annual Tony Awards,” which promise to be livelier than the Oscars, welcomes back Hugh Jackman as host with musical performances from Idina Menzel, Alan Cumming, Neil Patrick Harris and Sting. Among the potential highlights: a celebration of the 10th anniversary of “Wicked.” 7 p.m. Sunday, WCCO, Ch. 4

Delta queens

When I think of glamour, I think of Baton Rouge, La., which is why it makes perfect sense that it’s hosting “The 2014 Miss USA Competition,” with musical performances by Nelly, Florida Georgia Line and Marc Broussard. Look for pageant owner Donald Trump to be drooling in the wings. 7 p.m. Sunday, KARE, Ch. 11

Gene Kelly has tripped the lights fantastic with Debbie Reynolds, Leslie Caron and Fred Astaire. But he really outdid himself in 1945’s “Anchors Aweigh” when he danced with Jerry the Mouse from the “Tom & Jerry” shorts. Frank Sinatra also stars in this delightful musical. 9 p.m. Sunday, TCM
