It's a busy weekend for Minneapolis actress Kimberly Elise. She stars in both "A Day Late and a Dollar Short" (7 p.m. Saturday, Lifetime), which also features Whoopi Goldberg, and "Apple Mortgage Cake" (6 p.m. Sunday, UP), which tells the true tale of a woman who must bake 100 cakes in 10 days to save her home.

Lost in space

William Shatner, Zoe Saldana, Richard Dreyfuss and Neil Gaiman are among the luminaries waxing poetic about "The Real History of Science Fiction," a new docu-series that takes matters like "Doctor Who" and "Star Wars" super seriously. 9 p.m. Saturday, BBC America
