Revisionist history

Ah, Oscar season, when fact-based films get sliced and diced over their lack of accuracy. Accusations have arisen that Matthew McConaughey's protagonist in "Dallas Buyers Club" was actually bisexual and no homophobe, and that "American Hustle," styled as a comic drama, omits the eventual suicide of the Jennifer Lawrence character. Even animation isn't safe: Some say Hiyao Miyazaki's "The Wind Rises" whitewashes Japanese brutality and war crimes.
