Leroy Powell stars in “Crazy Hearts: Nashville.”

Wild about Harry

Another year, another cast. “American Idol” (7 p.m., KMSP, Ch. 9) marks the return of Jennifer Lopez and the debut of Harry Connick Jr., whose genuine musical chops and likable nature make him a perfect fit. Early episodes feature auditions in Atlanta, Boston, Detroit and Salt Lake City.

Get a job

The best running joke in the sitcom “Men at Work” (9 p.m., TBS) is that none of the characters actually ever appears to be doing any work. They’re too occupied with running through tired gags about men acting like immature little boys — and getting rewarded for it.

Country comforts

If the action on ABC’s “Nashville” is starting to leave you cold, check out the real-life dramatics of “Crazy Hearts: Nashville” (10 p.m., A&E), a new series that documents the lives of ambitious country-music artists who believe if they can make it in Tennessee, they can make it anywhere.
