“Britney: Piece of Me” (7 p.m., E!) takes us behind the scenes of Britney Spears’ upcoming two-year residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus prepares to one-up her by sitting naked on the giant globe outside the casino.

Jane Lynch must make a killer punch. How else to explain how she keeps getting A-listers to play “Hollywood Game Night” (9 p.m., KARE, Ch. 11), which returns after a short hiatus. Among this week’s guests: Ray Romano, Cheryl Hines, Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker.

Celebrate the holidays with the “Fox & Friends Christmas” (7 p.m., Fox News), in which the morning crew wishes season’s greetings and welcomes guests Jeff Dunham, Leona Lewis and the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. If this goes over well, maybe the “60 Minutes” crew will start a tradition of door-to-door caroling.

“Doctor Who” (8 p.m., BBCA) says goodbye to the popular Matt Smith in both this traditional holiday episode and a special “Doctor Who: Farewell to Matt Smith” (7 p.m., BBCA). In honor of the event, you may want to serve English pudding as part of your Christmas dinner.

A local production of “The Past Is Alive Within Us: The U.S.-Dakota Conflict” (8 p.m., TPT, Ch. 2) takes a look at the Dakota War of 1862 and how the tragic results still resonate today throughout Minnesota and our neighboring states. It’s a story all too few people know about.
