Q: Could you please tell me if you know what the status of a couple of TV shows are?

"Save Me," starring Ann Heche, is really a well-done comedy that I hope will be returning at some future date. Also, "History Detectives" has been on PBS during the summer season for years, but not this summer. I hope that it wasn't canceled.

A: "Save Me" was dead on arrival with a summer burn-off, so it won't be back.

"History Detectives" is being reformatted and will be back in 2014.

Whither 'Anatomy' and 'Fosters' stars

Q: I'm surprised that "Grey's Anatomy" star Eric Dane was killed off last season. I haven't seen him in any other TV shows. What is he doing these days?

Also, is the actress who played Callie leaving "The Fosters"?

A: After a long stint on a prime-time show, actors often want to take some time off. But Dane will be back in TNT's "The Last Ship."

Maia Mitchell, who plays Callie, remains on "The Fosters" when new episodes air in January 2014.

Look for 'Downton' on DVD

Q: I just finished watching the first two seasons of "Downton Abbey" on demand. Where can I find Season 3? I know Season 4 starts in January.

A: On DVD, perhaps at your local library. It also appears to be available on Amazon Prime. I know Comcast also had it at one point, but that window has closed.

'Are You Smarter' stuck in a loop

Q: We enjoy watching "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" on the Game Show Network, but it seems to be repeating the same handful of shows over and over, during the day and in the evening. Are any new episodes going to be produced, and, if so, when can we expect to see them on air?

A: This game show was in production from 2007 to 2011, according to the Internet Movie Database. You're watching reruns. If they are the same episodes over and over, it's possible the network only bought the rights to air some of the episodes and not the whole series.

'Parenthood' has returned

Q: Will "Parenthood" be on again this fall?

A: "Parenthood" returned for a new season last week in a new time slot: 9 p.m. Thursday.

'Vikings' will make a comeback

Q: There was a History show on Sunday nights called "Vikings." Will it be on again?

A: "Vikings" was renewed for a second season to air sometime in 2014. A premiere date and time slot haven't been announced yet.
