“Mildred Pierce,” starring Joan Crawford, is the first of Cher’s picks for “A Woman’s World: The Defining Era of Women on Film,” on AMC tonight.

If she could turn back time

Cher lets down her hair to help launch “A Woman’s World: The Defining Era of Women on Film” (7 p.m. Friday, AMC), a spotlight series featuring movies handpicked by the Academy-Award winning actress. First up: 1945’s “Mildred Pierce.”

Things are tough all over

If you like your investigative reporting served with a side of machismo, you’ll be pumped about “Vice” (10 p.m. Friday, HBO), a new series in which daredevil reporters bring their cameras to some of the most dangerous places in the world. Bill Maher and Fareed Zakaria are among the producers.

They called him Bruce

“20/20” (8 p.m. Saturday, KSTP, Ch. 5) celebrates the 50th anniversary of “General Hospital” by looking at how the soap opera handled sensitive issues over the decades. Former cast member Rick Springfield stops by to remind us that he still wishes he had Jessie’s girl.

Hats off to Dick Clark

“The 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards” (7 p.m. Sunday, WCCO, Ch. 4) pays tribute to late TV producer Dick Clark by teaming George Strait and Garth Brooks for a musical performance. Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton are the hosts.
