You take the good ...

"Survivor: Philippines" (7 p.m., WCCO, Ch. 4), the 25th edition of the reality series, would have been peachy keen if producers had persuaded the entire cast of "Facts of Life" to compete (My money would have been on Cloris Leachman). Instead, they were only able to coax Lisa "Blair" Whelchel, who will face off against former MVP baseball star Jeff Kent, two former beauty queens -- and the evil-hearted Russell Swan.

Disorder in the house

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (9 p.m., KARE, Ch. 11) doesn't kick off its 14th season for two weeks, which gives you plenty of time to reacquaint yourself with last season's big twist in which a longtime favorite finds himself in a very compromising position.

My heart will go on

Bob Dylan's new song, "Tempest," a 14-minute instant classic about history's most famous sinking ship, reminds of another marathon-length take on the tale. The Oscar-winning "Titanic" (9 p.m., HBO 2) may not have Dylan's way with words, but it has its moments.
