Two legendary musical families go head-to-head with repeat airings of 2000's "The Beach Boys: An American Family" (6 p.m., VHI Classic) and 2005's "The Jacksons: An American Dream" (7 p.m., Centric). For those unfamiliar with Centric, think of VH1 with an emphasis on African-American music.

TV reunion! Zach Braff joins his former "Scrubs" co-star Donald Faison on "The Exes" (9:30 p.m., TV Land). OK, so it's not exactly as big a deal as Laverne and Shirley getting back together, but it does leave open the hope that "Exes" regular Wayne Knight will revisit his Newman role and go up against nemesis Jerry Seinfeld one more time.

America's schoolmarm

Democrats and Republicans alike should be able to agree on one thing: The first lady makes a terrific talk-show guest. Michelle Obama makes her third visit this year to "The Late Show With David Letterman" (10:35 p.m., WCCO, Ch. 4). It's part of her back-to-school media tour.
