I wish I could tell you that Sigourney Weaver's first regular role in a TV series is a monumental event. It's not. "Political Animals" (9 p.m., USA) appears to know little about actual Washington politics and even less about the journalists who cover them. Weaver plays a former First Lady and current Secretary of State who wants to be president. Her campaign would be stronger if she wasn't so determined to behave like a soap-opera queen.

Monday

The Caped Crusader takes a back seat to his juiced car in "Batmobile: Justice On Wheels" (7 p.m., WUCW, Ch. 23), a half-hour promotional reel for a certain new movie, disguised as a "special." Directors Tim Burton, Christopher Nolan and Joel Schumacher all help steer the commentary.

Tuesday

"History Detectives" (8 p.m., KTCA, Ch. 2) kicks off its 10th season on a musical note as investigators try to determine the authenticity of an electric Fender Stratocaster that Bob Dylan may have played at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival and some supposed autographs from the Beatles on their 1964 U.S. tour.

Wednesday

Bizarre booking of the night: Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich as well as Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" (10:35 p.m., WCCO, Ch. 11). If the two hit it off, the "Jersey Shore" star promises to name her baby "Newti."

Thursday

Duluth is getting some national coverage -- and it's not because of the floods. "Great Lake Warriors" (9 p.m., History), a new documentary series, looks at the tugboat men who operate on the unpredictable Great Lakes, which means part of the action was filmed at Duluth-Superior Harbor. The city's Mike Ojard and his son Patrick are among the regular cast members.
