These go to 11

KARE-11 takes advantage of the date 11/11/11 by throwing a "Day of Sharing," spotlighting Twin Cities nonprofits that are making a positive difference. Look for special features on all of the NBC affiliate's news programs throughout the day, which will be presented in front of live studio audiences.

Lord of the ring

"Green Lantern: The Animated Series" (6 p.m. Friday, Cartoon) blissfully ignores the fact that the Ryan Reynolds vehicle was a superbust. Set in deep space, Hal Jordan takes on the Red Lantern Corps and the nagging thought that he might have made a big mistake breaking up with Scarlett Johansson.

Weekend rounds

Sanjay Gupta avoids the temptation to treat celebrity addicts in his new talk show, "The Next List" (1 p.m. Sunday, CNN). Instead, he'll showcase exceptional individuals who are making positive changes throughout the world. Andy Dick need not apply.

Breaking bread

Watching an estranged couple share a meal doesn't scream great entertainment unless, of course, the pair is being played by Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman. "The Song of Lunch" (8 p.m. Sunday, KTCA, Ch. 2), the latest installment of "Masterpiece Contemporary," may not rival Wallace Shawn's "My Dinner with Andre," but it's a luscious snack prepared by two of our finest actors.
