º"Big Shots": A talented cast, including Dylan McDermott and Joshua Malina, suffers as emasculated high rollers. If this is male bonding, it's time for me to consider a sex change. 9 p.m. Sept. 27, KSTP, Ch. 5.

"American Band": "American Idol" producers aren't happy just owning half the season. This spinoff hopes rockin' combos will also draw boffo ratings. Sheila E and Goo Goo Dolls' John Rzeznik are among the judges. I already have a headache.

7 p.m. Oct. 19, KMSP, Ch. 9. Not screened.

"Moonlight": With Buffy out of commission, it's apparently safe again for vampires, especially ones who are private investigators and only suck the blood of bad guys.

8 p.m. Sept. 28, WCCO, Ch. 4. Not screened.

"Nashville": From the folks who brought you "The Hills" comes this docu-soap about aspiring country stars who spend more time flirting than rehearsing. In the words of Waylon Jennings, I don't think Hank done it this way.

8 p.m. Fridays, KMSP, Ch. 9. **

"Viva Laughlin": This British-inspired show is supposed to be a musical thriller, but it tiptoes around the singing and dancing with trepidation. "Viva" needs to stop worrying about becoming the next "Cop Rock" and face the music.

7 p.m. Oct. 21, WCCO, Ch. 4. **

"Women's Murder Club": "Law & Order" veteran Angie Harmon returns to the crime beat, this time with a little help from her gal pals. Unfortunately, the four Nancy Drews combined don't offer the smarts and sass of one tough cookie on "The Closer."

8 p.m. Oct. 12, KSTP, Ch. 5. **

"Life Is Wild": "7th Heaven" never died; it just moved to South Africa. This family drama may be too tame for some, but the on-location shots make this a worthwhile safari.

7 p.m. Oct. 7, WUCW, Ch. 23. **½
