º"Reaper": For his 21st birthday, Sam discovers that his parents sold his soul to Satan. Instead of heading straight to you-know-where, he's employed to track down the world's greatest sinners with little more than a souped-up Dirt Devil and a Jack Black-like sidekick. Wacky fun, but the mission-of-the-week premise could get old fast.
8 p.m. Sept. 25, WUCW, Ch. 23. **½
"Cavemen": This season's most primitive offering is a spinoff of those tired Geico commercials that should have been pulled from circulation months ago. Instead, we get a borderline offensive sitcom that had me pining for something more substantial, like "The Adventures of Oven Mitt."
7 p.m. Oct. 2, KSTP, Ch. 5. *
"Carpoolers": "Kids in the Hall" star Bruce McCulloch is behind this likable, but limited, sitcom about whipped male commuters who don't have anything interesting to say once they get out of the car. It's a skit stretched too thin.
7:30 p.m. Oct. 2, KSTP, Ch. 5. **½
"Cane": Jimmy Smits headlines an all-star Latino cast, which includes Rita Moreno, Hector Elizondo and Nestor Carbonell. Their presence alone is enough to grab our attention, but the pilot was little more than a watered-down version of "The Godfather." It'll need to offer more to pull us back in.
9 p.m. Sept. 25, WCCO, Ch. 4. **
"Cashmere Mafia": Lucy Liu and three other sizzlers do a fine job of performing as a "Sex and the City" cover band, but there ain't nothin' like the real thing.
9 p.m. Nov. 27, KSTP, Ch. 5. **½
