º"Chuck": A lovable slacker (is there any other kind?) accidentally downloads all the country's greatest secrets into his brain, which triggers a massive hunt for his scalp. Zachary Levi, a Zach Braff prototype, gives a nice spin to his damsel-in-distress role. 7 p.m. Sept. 24, KARE, Ch. 11. ***

"Aliens in America": A Wisconsin family grudgingly takes in a Pakistani foreign-exchange student and discovers -- surprise! -- he's not a terrorist. Once you get over the typical Hollywood view that the Midwest is stuck in the 1950s, you'll discover a rather endearing sitcom about the trials and triumphs of freaks and geeks

7:30 p.m. Oct. 1, WUCW, Ch. 23. ***

"The Big Bang Theory": Jokes about dumb blondes and genius nerds might seem awfully easy to churn out, but this fall's most enjoyable new sitcom squeezes every bit of juice from the stereotypes. Give your brain a rest and enjoy the antics.

7:30 p.m. Sept. 24, WCCO, Ch. 4. ***½

"K-Ville": Two mismatched cops fight crime and corruption in New Orleans. Great premise, disappointing delivery, despite Anthony Anderson acting up a storm. 8 p.m. Monday, KMSP, Ch. 9. **

"Samantha Who?": Christina Applegate is a sitcom star waiting for the right vehicle. This probably isn't it. The idea of an amnesia patient who discovers she was a jerk in her pre-coma life is a decent premise for a Sandra Bullock film, not a weekly series.

8:30 p.m. Oct. 15, KSTP, Ch. 5. **½

"Journeyman": A San Francisco reporter ("Rome" standout Kevin McKidd) keeps stumbling back in history in search of lost souls, his old girlfriend and his sanity. His confusion is only matched by ours. Two words: Time bomb.

9 p.m. Sept. 24, KARE, Ch. 11. **
