COMING ATTRACTIONS
Look for these shows as mid-season replacements:
"The Sarah Connor Chronicles": "The Terminator" has been recycled so much it should be covered in rust. But this latest effort manages to run fairly smoothly, despite the absence of Ah-nuld's presence, James Cameron's vision and Linda Hamilton's abs. (Fox) **
"Canterbury's Law": Julianna Margulies plays a lawyer who drinks too much, lies too much, cheats too much and swears too much. Yeah, it's that desperate. (Fox) **
"The Return of Jezebel James": Aka the return of Amy Sherman-Palladino, the brilliant creator of "Gilmore Girls." She's got another great one-two combo in stars Parker Posey and Lauren Ambrose, although the sitcom format, which includes a studio audience, comes off as obtrusive. (Fox) ***
"New Amsterdam": The twist in this cop drama is that our hero never dies. I wish I could say the same about my interest. (Fox) *½
"The Rules For Starting Over": Adult men acting like horny teenagers are the focus of this unlovable look at dating and dorks. "Starting over" is perfect advice for the show's creators. (Fox) *½
"Lipstick Jungle": "Sex and the City" author Candace Bushnell tries to make magic happen again, this time with Brooke Shields front and center. (NBC) Not screened.
