FLINT HILLS INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL

Tuesday-next Sunday: The fest celebrates its 15th anniversary with performances in and around St. Paul's Rice Park and Ordway Center. The international roster includes Samite (pictured), a Ugandan marimba player and flutist who is a darling of the world folk circuit; Visible Fictions, a Scottish duo that will perform "Robin Hood"; Mexico's Antonio Zepeda, who performs on pre-Columbian instruments, and Belgium's Cirq'ulation Locale, which offers outdoor juggling and acrobatics. Two companies mix movement with technology. New Orleans-based Lightwire Theater uses electroluminescent wires to make its costumes and puppets glow in the dark, while Compagnia TPO of Italy performs on an interactive "dance carpet" that lights up and emits sounds. More than 650 Twin Cities-based artists with backgrounds in 20 nations also will perform. "The festival is a wonderful way to experience art and culture from all over the world, even as it helps us to appreciate the wonderful, diverse and rich art and culture of Twin Citians," said Dayna Martinez, festival artistic director. (Weekday matinees for school audiences May 26-29; open to all 10 a.m.-5 p.m. May 30-31. Outdoor shows, free; indoor, $5. Ordway Center, 5th and Washington Sts., St. Paul. 651-224-4222, www.fhfestival.org.)
