DEVILISH DANCES

Tuesday & Thursday: Get in on the ground floor of a new collaboration, this one between Minneapolis Music Company, an ensemble of musicians from Minnesota Orchestra, MacPhail Center and St. Olaf College, and the dance-theater troupe Live Action Set. For your Halloween-week enjoyment, they are pulling together a performance of "A Fiddler's Tale," composer Wynton Marsalis' jazz-inflected 1998 work inspired by Stravinsky's "A Soldier's Tale." In the Marsalis version, a violinist is seduced by the Devil. The score, which has been recorded in an instrumental version, here is conducted by Mischa Santora, with actor Raye Birk reading the narration, plus LAS performers Stephanie Fellner and Noah Bremer, above. (7:30 p.m. Tue. at Soap Factory, 514 SE. 2nd St., Mpls.; 7:30 p.m. Thu. at Bedlam Theater, 213 E. 4th St., St. Paul, $25, www.MinneapolisMC.org.) --CLAUDE PECK
