The Cat in the Hat
Previewing: Director Jason Ballweber is the artistic head of Four Humors, a company that has done wonderfully affecting, deadpan takes on classic texts by Gogol and Nabokov. Last year he staged "The Cat in the Hat" at Children's Theatre, a production that captures Dr. Seuss' off-kilter wit and sense of play. He is remounting the show for a summer run, with Dean Holt playing the lead. The winning production also stars Elise Langer, Gerald Drake and Douglas Neithercott. (7 p.m. Fri., 2 & 5 p.m. Sat.-Sun., 7 p.m. Thu. Ends July 27, Children's Theatre, 2400 3rd Av. S., Mpls., $16-$42, 612-874-0400 or www.childrenstheatre.org.)
