NEXT: New Musicals in the Making

This weekend: Theater Latté Da is showcasing three works in progress. This weekend, Peter Rothstein directs "The End of September," by Minneapolis-based writer Aaron Gabriel. The cast features Erin Capello, Laurie Flanigan-Hegge and Alan Sorenson. Gabriel drew from Ojibwe, Scandinavian and American songs and hymns for the story, which is a modern-day telling of King David and his friend Jonathan. The series continues the next two weekends, with "Some Assembly Required," an improvised musical by ComedySportz, and "Horizon," by Chip Close and Michael Holland. Bandara

Opens Friday: Pangea World Theater and Teatro del Pueblo team up for the premiere of Aravind Enrique Adyanthaya's "Bandara," a production that seeks to reveal continuities between Puerto Rican and Indian traditions and is based on the playwright's heritage. The show, whose title comes from the Sanskrit word for monkey, tells three stories, including one about reincarnation. The cast includes Nathan Christopher, Paulino Brener and Eliza Rasheed.
