Artists in Storefronts: Cineteca

Starts Saturday night: In its continuing effort to brighten the streets and life in general in the Whittier neighborhood, the group Artists in Storefronts is launching Cineteca, a three-month program of short films by 26 artists and collectives. Genres include animation, documentary, art-house and dance films. A few premieres will be tossed into the mix, and films will be shown on flat screens at 2515 Nicollet Av. S., 19 E. 26th St., 2615 Stevens Av. S., and projected at 116 E. 26th St. and inside 2710 Nicollet Av. S. If that itinerary sounds too much like a treasure hunt, you can cut right to the fun at the opening reception, which will feature music by DJ Venus DeMars with a screening of excerpts from the featured films. (7-10 p.m. Sat. Free. Fallout Studio 3, 2601 2nd Av. S., Mpls. Ends March 28.)
