KATE WEARE

Thursday: New York-based choreographer Kate Weare draws upon visual art and psychology as well as other influences for the elegantly wrought works presented in the "Women of Substance" series at the O'Shaughnessy in collaboration with Northrop Dance. "Garden" (2011) delves into the natural world, and much of the movement centers around a large stump, a touchstone for the ritualized movements of the dancers throughout the work. The evening also features excerpts from a new 2013 work, "Dark Lark," that fearlessly explores the mysteries of erotic fantasy and relationships. (7:30 p.m. Thu., $12-$29, the O'Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University, 2004 S. Randolph Av., St. Paul, 651-690-6700, www.oshaughnessy.stkate.edu.) CAROLINE PALMER
