Megan McClellan and Brian Sostek are the dance-theater dynamic duo known as Sossy Mechanics. They are best known for this 2002 work, a witty and endlessly inventive show about a fighter's championship quest. Fans of old movies, the sweet science, vaudeville, whip-smart dialogue and partner dancing will find much to love in this performance. RED EYE PERFORMANCE SERIES

Red Eye celebrates June with its annual "New Works 4 Weeks" festival starting this weekend with the Works-in-Progress shows featuring pieces from Jeesun Choi and Thalia Kostman, Andrew Lee Dolan and Peter Heeringa, Hayley Finn, Sam Johnson and Zainab Musa. The next three weekends comprise the Isolated Acts portion of the event, featuring Nick LeMere's "He & Him/She & Her" (June 6-9), "A Double Bill" with Angharad Davies' "Pretend" and Tamara Ober's "Sin Eater" (June 13-16), and finally "Rehearsing Failure" by Lisa Channer, Cory Hinkle and Annie Enneking (June 20-23). Mary Fox plays the yappy little pup in A.R. Gurney's popular comedy, which is being reprised for the summer at Yellow Tree Theatre in Osseo. A husband on the verge of a midlife crisis brings home a friendly mutt who soon becomes the man's best friend — to the consternation of his wife.
