The Cowles Center will welcome Ballet of the Dolls into its downtown space next season. The Dolls, who ordinarily perform at the Ritz Theater in northeast Minneapolis, will now execute Myron Johnson's "Venus & Adonis" on Hennepin Avenue (Sept. 27-29).

The Cowles 2013-2014 lineup, announced Thursday, includes an array of Twin Cities dance, music and theater.

The slate kicks off with the Cowles' "Gotta Dance! Gala & Raze the Barre" benefit, which features the Golden Dragon Acrobats (Sept. 6-7).

Minnesota Concert Opera is up next with "The Mini-Ring," David Seaman's reduction of Wagner's epic Ring Cycle (Sept. 13, 15). Tap-meister Joe Chvala returns with his Flying Foot Forum for "Three and Three" (Sept. 20-21).

Minnesota Dance Theatre's fall show (Oct. 4-13) is followed by the Sage Awards (Oct. 15), Cantus Vocal Ensemble (Oct. 17) and virtuosic bharatanatyam dancer Aparna Ramaswamy's "Sannidhi," which is about sacred themes (Oct. 19).

The Cowles roster also features James Sewell Ballet's 20th anniversary season show (Oct. 25-Nov. 3); TU Dance's 10th anniversary season (Nov. 15-17) and Zenon Dance, which will do its fall season (Nov. 24-Dec. 1) and "The Nutcracker According to Mother Goose" (Dec. 6-7).

Frank Theater's "The Santaland Diaries" plays the Cowles for the first time (Dec. 13-22), while vocal group Cantus has a holiday show, "Christmas with Cantus" (Dec. 16).

Off-Leash Area performing-arts company presents "Maggie's Brain" (Jan. 24-26, 2014) followed by Beyond Ballroom (Jan. 31-Feb. 2, 2014), the Afro-Brazilian company Contempo Physical Dance (Feb. 7-9, 2014), Stuart Pimsler Dance (Feb. 14-15, 2014), hip-hop exponent B-Boy J-Sun (Feb. 21-23, 2014) and Mu Daiko (March 7-9, 2014).

The vocal group The Singers performs its 10th anniversary show March 15, 2014. Karen Charles' Threads Dance Project brings its Ailey-influenced repertoire (March 21-24, 2014).

While the spring lineup repeats some of the mainstays from the fall (Sewell Ballet, Zenon, Cantus and MDT), the Cowles closes its season with newcomers Curio Dance (June 13-15, 2014), and Ethnic Dance Theatre (June 27-29, 2014).
