Opening: A fluid stream of diverse, iconoclastic humanity flows through and around Sharon Bridgforth's new work, "River See." Like filmmaker Julie Dash's seminal "Daughters of the Dust," Bridgforth's multidisciplinary piece is set in a world heavily influenced by the spirit realm. Sonja Parks (pictured) plays central coming-of-age character See, who is about to leave home. She is a healer who is able to communicate with people in their dreams. The interactive show, which is scripted as well as improvised, also features dancers Kenna Cottman and Leah Nelson, singers Mankwe Ndosi and Aimee Bryant and poet Truth Maze.
