Opening Thursday

For the next couple of weeks, a Walker Art Center gallery will become a studio as Mexican artist Pedro Reyes shoots episodes of his animated "Baby Marx" TV series. It stars puppet incarnations of Communist ideologue Karl Marx and capitalist Adam Smith, who have been "brought back to life by way of a magic microwave oven." The project involves puppeteers, filmmakers, writers, focus groups and stroll-through-gallery-visitors.

  • Reyes and theorist Michael Hardt will discuss the project at 7 p.m. Thu 8/11 at the Walker Cinema; free.
  • Exhibit open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Thu., 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Fri.-next Sun. $6-$10; free after 5 p.m. Thu. Ends Nov. 27.
  • Walker Art Center, 1750 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. 612-375-7600 or www.walkerart.org
