Several events nationwide have been scheduled to mark the centenary of Bernard Herrmann's birth, including a local film retrospective that continues this weekend:

'WUTHERING HEIGHTS'
The Emily Brontë story has cut a wide swath in the public consciousness.
ON FILM
1920 Silent film.
1939 A blockbuster with Laurence Olivier as Heathcliff, Merle Oberon as Catherine and David Niven. Nominated for eight Oscars, including best picture.
1954 Luis Buñuel makes a Spanish-language version, titled "Abismos de Pasion."
1970 With Timothy Dalton and Anna Calder-Marshall.
1992 Juliette Binoche plays both Catherine and her daughter, with Ralph Fiennes co-starring.
2003 MTV version, with Erika Christensen and Mike Vogel as rock star "Heath."
2011 A British version is slated for September with James Howson and Kaya Scodelario.
